Engines

DMS Engines Discover the continuously developing DMS portfolio of diesel and dual-fuel engines. DMS integrates robust engines, developed from pioneering heavy fuel technology, that have been engineered to provide unquestionable benefits for the owners and operators of naval vessels.

Benefits

  • Reliability and low maintenance costs
  • High thermal efficiency and low emissions
  • Modular construction and reduced parts count
  • Ergonomic interfaces
  • Minimized consumables
  • Cylinder liner with anti-polishing ring
  • Extended time between overhauls (up to 24,000 hours between top overhauls)
  • Variable inlet closing (VIC) installed for low smoke and improved load response
  • Emission compliant with IMO Tier II

Wärtsilä 31

The Wärtsilä 31 sets a benchmark for medium-speed engines in efficiency and overall emissions performance, offering the best fuel economy of any 4-stroke engine in its class across the complete operating range. It is available in 8 to 16 cylinder configurations with a power output from 4.2 to 10.4 MW at 720 and 750 rpm.

This robust, reliable engine can withstand long intervals between overhauls, maximizing vessel profitability and reducing maintenance, cost, and effort.

Wärtsilä 32

Wärtsilä 32 engines have been the preferred choice of yards, operators and owners since the 1980s, with more than 5100 engines delivered to the marine market alone.

The Wärtsilä 32 is available with 6 to 16 cylinders and a power output ranging between 3 and 9.3 MW at 720 and 750 RPM. It has best-in-class power density and fuel economy over a wide operating range.

Wärtsilä 25

The Wärtsilä 25 is a modern medium-speed 4-stroke marine engine based on the reliable and proven Wärtsilä 31 modular technology platform. The engine is available in 6–9L cylinder configurations, with a power output ranging from 1.7 to 3.4 MW.

The Wärtsilä 25 offers outstanding fuel flexibility with diesel, dual-fuel, LNG and ammonia versions available.

The Wärtsilä 25 provides reliable performance as both a robust main propulsion engine in mechanical, diesel-electric and hybrid installations and as a cost-efficient auxiliary engine.

Generating Sets

DMS provides generating sets complete with alternators mounted on a common base-frame which meet our customers’ requirements for shock, noise and vibration levels. By utilizing double mounting arrangements and acoustic enclosures, naval standards are met and exceeded. DMS supplies Wärtsilä generating sets that have been providing many of the world navies with electric power for diesel-electric propulsion and on-board ship service for many years.
